Kaskaskia College is hosting its annual Enduring Freedom Veterans’ Day Celebration on Wednesday, November 6, 2024. All veterans, auxiliaries, and their families within the Kaskaskia College district are invited to attend and enjoy a complimentary breakfast and special program paying tribute to the invaluable contributions of American veterans over the years.

The celebration program will begin at 9:45 a.m. in the Jane Knight Auditorium. It will include the posting of the colors, military service songs, and remarks by guest speaker Angie Zahn, managing broker, realtor, and facilitator of a spousal support group for veterans with PTSD. Angie, alongside her husband, Bob Zahn, a former Army Chief Warrant Officer and Vietnam War veteran, is featured in the film Trauma Comes Home – Hope for the Warrior Family.

In addition to the morning celebration, Kaskaskia College will host two free screenings of the documentary Trauma Comes Home – Hope for the Warrior Family, at 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on the same day. The following day, Thursday, November 7, 2024, the college will offer accompanying PTSD training to further support families of veterans with PTSD. This free training aims to equip and empower loved ones of veterans through community support. Interested individuals can register for the training at warriorhope.online/KC.

The college encourages veterans’ organizations and auxiliaries to share this invitation with their members. For more information, please contact Carrie Hancock at 618-545-3118 or Cary Day at 618-545-3182.
