Salem firemen say a stove fire filled a home with smoke early Thursday night.

The fire was at the Kaylee Powers home in the 1400 block of North Miller.

Food was on fire in the stove when Powers called for help.  She reported the home was filling with smoke.

Salem firemen got a quick knockdown using a single hose and then cleared considerable smoke from the home.  There is expected to be some lasting smoke damage.

The fire call came in at 5:42 Thursday night.  Firemen were on the scene for about an hour.

Odin firemen were initially called to the scene, but were diverted to station coverage.   Kell Firemen were initially called for station coverage, but were cancelled when the fire was quickly put out.
