A Salem home was destroyed by fire overnight.  Salem Assistant Fire Chief Bill Fulton reports the two story home at 212 West Warmoth was fully engulfed in flames upon their arrival just before 11 Sunday night.

There was concern someone may be inside, but so far no indication that was the case.  The owner, Jeffrey Tate, was not home at the time.

Firefighting continued for five hours until around four Monday morning.  Firemen used four lines to fight the fire at the height of the blaze.

The City of Salem had to bring in a backhoe to knock down part of the back wall to allow firemen to get to the remaining flames.

The State Fire Marshal’s office was called in to help investigate the cause. Fulton said due to the advanced stage of the fire it was not possible to even determine what area of the home the fire started.

Odin provided mutual aide on the scene while Kell Firemen stood by at the Salem Fire Station in the event of another fire.
