Some of the 96 entries in last year's Little Egypt Festival Car Show.

The Little Egypt Festival in Salem on Saturday includes free kids activities, a car show and a horse show.

The car show is being held at Boone and Broadway in Bryan Memorial Park.  With the great weather, Chair Ken Carpenter is hoping for more cars this year.

“Registration is 8 to noon,” Carpenter said. “We’re going to try to give awards out between 1:00 and 1:30 and then be done and ready to line up for the parade.”

There will also be food and activities at the car show.

Downtown, there are free activities planned for the kids.  Chair Kelly Predium says the big wheels race will be the highlight.

“At about 9:30 or 9:45 we’ll start registration for the big wheel race,” Predium said. “We’re encouraging kids that can fit on a big wheel, I’m going to say roughly 3-to-4 year olds through ten year olds. They run different aged heats and compete for bicycles. This year our bicycles are being donated by Quinn Realty and Property Management.”

There are other free kids’ activities in the Schwartz and North Broadway area.

A horse is planned at one Saturday afternoon at the Franklin Park athletic fields.

Horse and car participants can then join the Little Egypt Festival Parade that steps off at two Saturday afternoon from Bryan Memorial Park down North Broadway and then west on Main Street to Indiana.

You’ll be able to hear the parade live on WJBD-FM 100.1.
