A 21-year-old Salem man has been arrested by Salem Police for three burglaries.

Police report Thomas Wilkins of North Jefferson has been arrested for the September 5th burglary at the Salem American Legion on East Main Street, the September 20th break-in at the Salem Community High School football concession stand, and an October 2nd burglary to a vehicle in the rear parking lot of the high school.

Police arrested Wilkins as he walked across the school parking lot on Wednesday.

Police say with the help of video, Wilkins was developed as a suspect in the American Legion burglary.   An attempt was made to get into the safe and the cash register drawer was pulled out.   There was no money in the safe or cash register.   Entry was made through a rear door.  The burglar alarm sounded, but the person responsible had left before police arrived.

At the concession stand, police say the cash drawer was pulled out, but all money had been removed following the game the night before.  Police say after entry was gained to the vehicle, an iPad was reportedly stolen.  Video from the school helped identify Wilkins.

Wilkins was taken to the Marion County Jail to await a final decision on charges.
