The Marion County Sheriff’s Department says it is unclear what happened Monday morning to cause injuries to two motorcyclists in the 5300 block of Foster Lane in rural Iuka.
One of the cyclist’s was found lying in the roadway ditch after apparently being thrown from his bike. 38-year-old David White of Crabapple Drive in Flora was airlifted from the scene by an Air Evac medical helicopter to St. Louis University Hospital. He was reportedly conscious at the time he was found and when he was transported.
The second cyclist was treated at the scene for road abrasions and declined hospital treatment. He was walking around at the time medical help arrived. His name has not been released.
Iuka Fire was called to assist and set up the landing zone for Air Evac. United Medical was also on the scene.
The incident was first reported around 8:57 Monday morning.
