Police Beat for Tuesday, October 1st, 2024

Salem Police arrested a 40-year-old Iuka man for threatening a public official.  Police report that Davy Middleton of North Avenue had been taken to the emergency room of Salem Township Hospital from a previous incident.  While there, he was placed in restraints and reportedly became verbally abusive to staff.   As a result, Middleton was taken to the Marion County Jail to await a decision on any formal charges.

A sweep by the US Marshal’s Service and Illinois Department of Corrections on Monday resulted in two arrests.  39-year-old Joseph Lilly of North Dawley in Salem was arrested on a Marion County domestic violence warrant and an Illinois Department of Corrections warrant.  After appearing on the Marion County warrant in court, Lilly was released to the Department of Corrections.   35-year-old Richard Potter of Hester Street in Centralia was arrested on an outstanding federal warrant.

34-year-old Tristan Robbers of South 1st in Mt. Vernon was arrested by Salem Police during a traffic stop on an outstanding Jefferson County major traffic warrant.  He was taken to the Marion County Jail to await transport to Jefferson County.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the theft of tools from a Citation Oil facility in the 3100 block of Selmaville Road southwest of Salem.

The sheriff’s department is investigating the theft of a dirt bike from a garage in the 1100 block of Medlin Road sometime during the past week.  The owner reported no signs of forced entry.
