Bobcats Now 14-4 With W Over CJHS
Franklin Park knocked off Centralia in middle school baseball 15-0 in four innings. Zane Applegate went 2-3 with a double and 5 RBI, Owen Tennyson also doubled with 2 hits and 4 RBI. Bentley Bryan drove in 2 and scored 3 times. Emit Gibson and Rhett Starnes also had RBI. Applegate was the complete game winner allowing 2 hits and 8 strikeouts. The Bobcats are 14-4 on the season.
Selmaville Honors 8th Graders & Comes Back To Beat Iuka
Selmaville and Iuka battled at the Little League Complex on the Rockets 8th grade night with the home team coming out on top 7-6 in a tight game. The game was tied at 3 after two innings when Selmaville scored to take a 4-3 lead. That is where we would stay until the 5th when the Pirates would score 3 times to take a 6-4 lead. But Selmaville would battle back and scored 3 of their own in the bottom of the inning for the win. For the Pirates, Vince Krajefska went 3-3 with an RBI and 2 runs scored. On the mound he worked 3.2 allowing 6 hits and struck out 4. For the Rockets, Porter Lewis hit an inside the park homer, a triple going 2-2 with 2 runs scored and also drove in one. Isaak Knapp drove in 2 runs including the winning runs in the fifth, with Jacob Butts also driving in a run. Izac Holsapple and Matthew Carter scored twice. Iuka is 4-9 while Selmaville improves to 11-10.
Yesterday in middle school baseball, Flora shutout Fairfield 15-0, Nashville over Trico 16-1, Pinckneyville beat Waltonville 10-0.
