High School Sports Round Up: Salem High Golf and Tennis teams pull out victories

High School Volleyball:

SC volleyball improved to 6-6 with their straight sets win over Altamont 25-2, 25-20.  River Yingst had 18 assists and 8 digs.  Lauren Johnson had 4 kills.  The SC JV lost in straight sets to fall to 4-3 and the fresh/soph opened the night with a straight sets win and are 3-1-and-1.

Boys Golf:  Salem boys golf celebrated Senior night with a JV and Varsity win over Sandoval. The varsity match medalist was Aden Bass with a 38. JV match medalist was Scout Puricelli with a 39.  All 6 seniors played the varsity match. Aden Bass, Rhett and Ryan Detering, Logan Lockhart, Jalen Inlow, and Wyatt Rau.

Girls Tennis:  The Salem girls tennis team played Vandalia and won 9-0. We won all six of our varsity singles matches and all three of our varsity doubles matches. Kinsey Jarrett played against Vandalia’s only JV player and also won 6-1.  Tonight’s varsity athletes were: Ella Robinson, Lauren Burge, Maddie Keserauskis, Abbi Patrick, Samantha Alli and Katee Sellers.

Annies took second Saturday in the Highland Invitational. 1st, Highland, 2nd Centralia, 3rd Hillsboro, 4th Greenville, 5th Vandalia.  Centralia then lost to O’Fallon at home yesterday 8-1.

High School Baseball:  SC fell at TTown 8-4.  Callaway Smith, Brody Markley, and Colton Smith all doubled.  They each drove in a run.  Evan Hoover went 2-3 with 2 runs scored.  Markley took the loss on the mound.

Junior Varsity Football:  In JV football action yesterday, Mount Vernon beat Marion 36-14, and Benton shutout Murphysboro 34-0.  Harrisburg 47-0 over Pinckneyville.
