Salem Apple Fest returns to the Marion County Fairgrounds this Saturday, September 14, featuring live entertainment, activities, vendors and food trucks. Jessiycka Coleman of the Salem Chamber of Commerce highlighted some of the new additions to the event.
“This year we’re really excited,” said Coleman. “We have a couple of new items. We have free laser tag all day for kids and families who come out to play… We have a lot of new vendors and returning vendors… we do have some of the favorite vendors coming back. We have vendors attending this event from over an hour away just to reach our local businesses, community members and attendees.”
Coleman says the event has a lot to offer at a low price for entry.
“We’ve got food, we’ve got live music by the Penguin Poppers, we have some great events that are going to be sponsored by different people in the area,” Coleman said. “Bring out the kiddos, it’s just five dollars per car. Load everyone you can into the vehicle. It’s only five dollars to pay for the overhead of the event.”
The event will run from 10 AM to 3 PM and will also feature performances by SI Elite Tumbling and Cheer at 10 and the Wildcats cheer team at 11, and the Apple Wars contest. Activities for kids in addition to laser tag include a bounce house, mobile dairy classroom, smores and giveaways.
Coleman thanked sponsors including Vector Construction for sponsoring laser tag and Midwest Farm and Land Co. for sponsoring Apple Fest as a whole.
