The Kaskaskia College Dr. Dee and Sue Boswell Art Gallery is presenting “The House with a Thousand Eyes,” a new exhibition showcasing the talents of five local artists. Running from August 26th to September 19th, this diverse collection features works from creators spanning the region from St. Louis, MO, to Pana, IL.

The exhibition highlights the unique perspectives and techniques of the following artists:

Adam Long: Exploring humanity’s connection to nature through sculptural works

Kathy Marshall: Versatile painter specializing in watercolor and mixed media

Jeffrey Nihiser: Illustrator examining the extremes of the human condition

Mitchell Supancic: Self-taught acrylic painter focusing on realism and portraiture

Maxine Thirteen: Oil painter creating thought-provoking commentaries on femininity and social issues

Artist Highlights

Adam Long challenges our perception of humanity’s place in nature, using natural and man-made found objects to create thought-provoking sculptures. Long states, “We are not apart from nature, but a part of it.”

Kathy Marshall, hailing from Pana, IL, brings a wealth of experience in various mediums, including watercolor, gouache, and pen and ink. As the first Illinois artist member of painttheparks.com, Marshall’s work promotes both art and nature conservation.

Jeffrey Nihiser’s journey from comic book enthusiast to accomplished illustrator showcases his unique exploration of the human condition. His work defies easy categorization, blending elements of fine art and contemporary illustration.

Mitchell Supancic, a self-taught artist from Fairview Heights, IL, draws inspiration from horror movies, music, and nature to create striking acrylic paintings that focus on realism and portraiture.

Maxine Thirteen, based in St. Louis, MO, offers a provocative take on femininity and social satire through her oil paintings. Her work combines glamorous imagery with macabre elements to both entice and disturb viewers.

The Kaskaskia College Dee and Sue Boswell Art Gallery is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Special event hours and appointments are also available.
