It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Linda Nesmith, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, who peacefully departed from this world on Friday, September 5, 2025, at the age of 74. Born in Centralia, Illinois, on February 27, 1951, the daughter of James Everett Mays and Susan Mabel (Jenkins) Mays.
Linda was a dedicated Pharmacy Technician at SSM Health St. Mary Hospital in Centralia, where she diligently worked for many years. Her colleagues and patients will remember her for her warm smile, unwavering commitment, and caring nature.
Linda’s life was enriched by her passion for reading, walking, watching movies, and spending cherished moments with her special friends. Her love for life and joyful spirit will forever be remembered by all who knew her.
Being a mother was her greatest joy, and her greatest accomplishment was her daughter, Tiffany Nesmith of Troy. Linda is also survived by her precious granddaughter, Lily, who also brought immense joy to her life. She also leaves behind a circle of special friends who will greatly miss her presence.
She was preceded in death by her devoted parents, James Everett and Susan Mabel Mays, and her dear brother, Eddie Mays, with whom she shared a close bond.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at 4:00 PM at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia with Rev. Joey Rhodes officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3:00 PM until the time of the service at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Centralia Regional Library and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home located at 235 North Sycamore Street, Centralia, Illinois 62801.
