The Salem Youth Football Wildcats have waited awhile to finally get started. They kicked off their season Sunday at Mascoutah with Salem escaping with a 22-20 overtime victory. The JV lost to the Indians 48-0.
Also in youth football scores over the weekend. In varsity action, Flora shutout Johnston City 38-0, Marion 38-0 over Centralia and Mount Vernon beat Carbondale 22-14.
In 5th/6th grade action, Carbondale beat Mount Vernon 28-0, Flora 12-6 over Johnston City.
