Dobson-Fest to be held at Carlyle Lake this weekend

Dobson-Fest, a celebration of pioneer astronomer John Dobson will be held Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at the Coles Creek Boat Ramp within Coles Creek Recreation Area.

As the sun sets over the lake, visitors will be able to see interactive booths and engage with amateur astronomers. There will also be a drawing for a chance to win a StarSense Explorer 8″ Smartphone App-Enabled Dobsonian Telescope or an Explore Scientific 10-inch Hybrid Truss Tube Dobsonian Telescope – DOB1045C. Food will be available from Suits Me BBQ & Dessertz. The Coles Creek Boat Ramp will remain open to the public throughout the event.

This free event is presented by River Bend Astronomy Club in collaboration with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Event coordinators are excited to engage with fellow space enthusiasts and are thrilled to offer this unique opportunity for exploration.
