A State Deputy Fire Marshal and Salem Police are investigating an early Monday morning house fire in Salem that appears to be arson.
The fire was at the Jessica Sidner home at 1202 West Bennett Street.
Salem Assistant Fire Chief Bill Fulton says flames were showing on the west side outside wall of the home upon arrival.  The fire had also made its way into a corner of the attic.  Fulton reports there was considerable damage in the area of the home that burned, but the fire never made it into the living area of the residence thanks to s quick knockdown.
The two occupants of the home discovered the fire, got out of the residence, and called for help.
The fire call came in at 3:30 Monday morning with firemen on the scene for just over an hour.   The investigation into the cause of the fire and who may be responsible is continuing.    Odin Fire provided mutual aid on the scene while Kell Firemen stood by at the Salem Fire Station in the event of another fire.
