Wildcats 0-2 after shutout loss at Benton

By WJBD Staff Sep 8, 2024 | 5:49 AM

The Salem Wildcats fell to 0-2 on the football season losing at Benton 56-0.  Salem’s opening drive of the game was their best, driving inside Rangers territory only to turn the ball over which led to the first of many Benton scores.  After a 7-0 first quarter, the Rangers exploded for 34 points in the 2nd quarter setting up a running clock for the entirety of the 2nd half.

Marquis Ettress earned the start at tailback for the injured Trey Clark.  The sophomore carried it 13 times for 46 yards.  That was most of Salem’s offense on the night.  The Rangers were led by senior quarterback Tiffin Kouzoukas who rushed for a touchdown and threw for 3 more.

Salem will open up their home schedule next week at Jim Finks Field when they host Mt Zion.
