It is with great sadness that the family of John Reynolds of St. Louis, MO, announces his passing on September 3, 2025, at the age of 72. John died after several weeks in the hospital from complications of West Nile Virus. The effects of treatment for metastatic renal cancer had left him unable to recover. He passed peacefully, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 1952, in Springfield, IL, John was the fifth of seven children of Wayne and Faye Reynolds. He grew up in Mt. Vernon, IL, and graduated from Mt. Vernon Township High School in 1971. He went on to earn an Associate Degree in Avionics Technology from Southern Illinois University in 1974.
On December 29, 1973, John married the love of his life, Peggy Parish Reynolds. Together they raised their two children in Florissant, MO. John was known for his love of camping and canoeing, his playful spirit, his easy laugh, and his ever-present video camera.
John is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Peggy; his children Stephanie Vallo (Eric) of Clayton, MO, and Joseph Reynolds of San Francisco, CA; and his beloved grandchildren Sarah Vallo (21), Evan Vallo (19), and Vanessa Vallo (16). He is also survived by his sister Kathleen Taylor of Fairfield, IL, and brothers Bill Reynolds of Bluford, IL, and Dan Reynolds of Mt. Vernon, IL, as well as many nieces, nephews, in-laws and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Faye Reynolds, and siblings Bob Reynolds, Larry Reynolds, and Patsy Reynolds.
John loved steadfastly, laughed often, and never passed up a chance to make things just a little bit sillier. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who took caring for his family seriously, but never himself. Peggy was the great love of his life, and together they built a family full of humor, affection and joy through the struggles and absurdities of life.
