Uriel “Mel” Arenas, born on September 12, 1950, in Guadalajara, Mexico, son of Francisco Arenas and Dolores (Lara) Arenas, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2025, just days shy of celebrating his 75th birthday.
A proud and committed former police officer, Mel dedicated over 20 years to the Milwaukee Police Department. Mel harbored a lifelong passion for music and sports, interests that brought him joy and provided a treasured connection with friends and family.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded, and no public services will be held. Mel is survived by his loving family who carry forward his legacy and spirit: his sons, Brian Arenas and wife Lisa of Vandalia, and Andy Arenas and Sara Lusch of Odin. He also leaves behind his 2 daughters and 2 sons: Victoria Arenas, Tiffany Arenas, Moses Marrero, and Ian Marrero. His legacy lives on in his beloved grandchildren, Breanna Schwager and Seth, Kenny Schwager and Paige, Reyna Arenas, Eli Arenas, Ezra Arenas, Azaylia, Noah, and Gabriel, and his great-grandchildren Jayd and Nova.
He is fondly remembered by his brother, Frank Arenas and wife Diane, and his sisters, Mary Arenas Cary and Dawn Swanagan and husband James, all of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Mel also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, one special nephew, Louis, and cousins, who cherished their time with him.
Preceded in death by his parents, Mel’s enduring spirit, kindness, and strength will be deeply missed.
