The state has appropriated money to redevelop the Rend Lake Resort which closed several years ago after the main building fell into disrepair.
State Representative Dave Severin says work is now underway on the parking lots and the administration is working to secure contracts with vendors. He says the goal is to reopen the facility in 24 months.
Severin told a Regional Chamber of Commerce Legislative Summit his goal is in two years to take his wife, son and grandchildren for Mother’s Day brunch when the facility is fully back open.
