With great sorrow, we announce the passing of Marlene Laskowski, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Marlene passed away peacefully on Friday, August 22, 2025, at her residence in Woodlawn, Illinois. She was born on Monday, December 9, 1957, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, the daughter of Lemmie Hudson and Sally (Ford) Smith, and lived a life full of love, adventure, and dedication to her family and passions. She married Donald Laskowski in 1988 in Blytheville, Arkansas, and he survives.

Marlene is survived by her devoted husband, Donald “Don” Laskowski of Woodlawn; her cherished sons, James Laskowski and his wife Melissa of South Carolina, and Kevin Laskowski of Dyersburg, Tennessee. Her legacy continues through her three adored grandchildren: Kyle J. Laskowski, Sean Michael Laskowski, and McKenzie Laskowski, who were the light of her life.

She is also survived by her loving siblings: James Hudson and his wife Tommie, Vanessa Hudson, Penny Presley, and Sister-in-law Trina Hudson, all residing in Tennessee. Marlene’s extended family includes numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, Lemmie Hudson and Sally (Floyd) Smith, and her stepfather, Donald Smith, and brother Pete Hudson.

Marlene spent her career at World Color Press, where she worked with dedication and pride. In her personal time, she was an enthusiastic drag racer for many years and had a deep love for deer hunting, fishing, and all sports. A member of Lenox Baptist Church, Marlene cherished the outdoors and, above all, her family, who brought her immense joy.

Per Marlene’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded, and no public services will be held at this time. In keeping with her generous spirit, the family welcomes memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and/or Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. These donations can be accepted at Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home, located at 235 North Sycamore Street, Centralia, Illinois 62801.
