The Wabash Valley College Bass Team wrapped up the Bassmaster College National Championship on Lake Hartwell Friday afternoon. This group of anglers did a fantastic job representing our school. Each team caught a limit every day of the tournament, each team finished in the top half of the field, and we came home with the highest finish in program history in a Bassmaster College National Championship.
Leading the way was Dalton Phelps and Gannon Stork who had a two-day total of 25 lbs. 0 oz. good enough for 15th place out of the 168 boat field. They narrowly missed making the final day cut by just 9 oz. Caden Pearson and Nathan Kallstrand was next in for us with a two-day total of 21 lbs. 10 oz. and finished in 38th place. Hunter Sandschafer and Blake Beckmann had a better day two and slid up to 45th place with 20 lbs. 14 oz. as their two-day total. Brogan Gregg and Peyton Rose had 18 lbs. 13 oz. and finished up in 69th and Hunter Russell and Benny Blank had 17 lbs. 11 oz. for 77th place.
This tournament puts a wrap on college careers for four anglers at least at Wabash Valley College. Benny Blank, Blake Beckmann, Gannon Stork, and Nathan Kallstrand are 💯 going to be missed for this coming season. All four anglers have been great students, great teammates, and great contributors on the water and to the overall culture of our team which has been fantastic. Benny, Blake, and Gannon have decided to begin adulting in the workforce and Nathan has transferred to Murray State to finish up his college fishing career and degree in Construction Management. Good luck fellas…always a warrior and I am praying you’ll always lead well in your homes, workplace, and all other things you aspire to be and do in life. Everyone at Wabash Valley College wishes the best for you!!
