The new foundation to benefit the Salem Grade School District held its first major fund raiser over the weekend.
Chair Rene Goza says the foundation now has a seven-member board in place and is seeking members.
“We took a survey at the end of the last school year of the teachers, asking for ideas and what they need funding and support for,” Goza said. “We want to get those ideas together for where we can support the teachers in the classroom and anything around the buildings of Salem 111 that we can help with…. We’re looking to expand our memberships.”
Goza says the foundation provides funds for projects that may not be possible without private funding. The foundation has not yet set its first projects.
Those interested in joining the foundation can obtain more information on the Salem 111 Foundation Facebook Page or at Salem111foundation.org.
