Salem Police say a 36-year-old Effingham man was injured when he lost control of his motorcycle on West Main Street when swerving to avoid an SUV that was moving into his lane of travel.
Travis McKelvey of East Hendelmeyer was taken to Salem Township Hospital for treatment of injuries.
Salem Police say he never made contact with the SUV.
The crash occurred just west of Cross Creel Boulevard at 8:14 Saturday night.
