Marion County Treasurer distributes $23.9 million in property taxes

Marion County Treasurer Gary Purcell has distributed more than $23.9 million in property taxes collected last month to the various taxing bodies in the county.

The greatest share of the money went to school districts at just over $13.4 million.  Cities and villages received just over $2 million.  Kaskaskia College received just over $1.7 million.  The Marion County General Fund, IMRF and Tort Immunity will get $1.6 -million.  Fire districts will share in $1.2 million.  Township Road and Bridge Districts have been sent just over $1-million.  TIF districts took in $714,000 to be used for development projects within the districts.  Townships received a total of $637-thousand.   The Centralia Regional Library received $288,000.

Other distributions included the county mental health board $237,000, Salem Township Hospital $132,000, the County Health Department $99,000, the University of Illinois Extension Center $81,000, Salem Airport $47,000, Multi Township Assessors $44,000 and Odin Cemetery $2,900.

The second installment of the Real Estate Taxes is due September 30th.  Payments may be made at the Marion County Courthouse, most financial institutions, by mail, online at ILmarion.com or at the drop box located on the west side of the courthouse.
