Salem Police Patrolman Dustin Duncan (left) is sworn in to the Sergeant's position by Mayor Nick Farley (right) while his wife Robin Duncan holds the Bible.

The Salem Police Department has a new sergeant.

Dustin Duncan received the promotion.  He was the senior patrolman after joining the department in 2009.    Duncan replaced Blake Phillips who moved out of state.

Police Chief Kyle Ambuehl says they currently have two openings to fill from a new eligibility list that will be created after September testing.  Applications for the testing are currently being accepted.

Patrolman Ryan Meador has also left the department to become a Secretary of State Police Officer.
