The City of Centralia will break ground Wednesday afternoon on the new $28-million dollar water treatment plant.
The ceremony is scheduled for the site of the new plant at 660 West Greet Street at 3:30 Wednesday afternoon.
Centralia city officials say this new facility represents a major step forward in their efforts to continue to provide quality water and reliable infrastructure to residents, businesses and the surrounding communities.
Work is starting earlier than the original goal of November.
Work has already started on two other projects related to the new plant. One is to build a new water line to Carlyle Lake and the other is relocate pipes entering the water plant to the site of the new water plant.
