The Marion County Sheriff’s Department and Salem Police will keep the Battle of the Badges Blood Drive trophy for another year as the two topped the combined effort of the Salem Fire Protection District and United Medical Response.
A total of 65 units of blood were collected during the Wednesday afternoon blood drive held at the Salem Community Activity Center.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Department ended with 17 donations on their behalf. Salem Police had 16 units, Salem Fire Protection District 14, and United Medical Response 11. With the combined effort of the sheriff’s department and Salem Police, 33 units of blood were collected beating out the combined total of 25 units from the fire department and United Medical.
The Red Cross thanks everyone for their participation during a national appeal for blood due to a decline in donations over the summer. The Wednesday blood drive collected 65 units of blood, 25 over the 40 unit goal.
