Two people were injured in a head on crash on Route 37 south near Paradise Cemetery during the noon hour Monday.

Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies say a vehicle driven by 40-year-old Micah Brasel of Vandalia was traveling northbound when she crossed the centerline and struck a southbound vehicle driven by 79-year-old Duane Engel of Lost Hollow Drive in Salem.  Brasel said she had become distracted in her vehicle before the crash.

Both Engel and a passenger in his vehicle, his 76-year-old wife Donna, were taken to Salem Township Hospital for treatment.   Brasel declined medical treatment.

The Salem Fire Protection District was called to assist at the scene, but reported everyone was able to get out of the vehicles on their own.

The crash occurred at 12:21 Monday afternoon.
