State Police have released further details on a Sunday morning crash in the 2300 block of Walnut Hill Road southeast of Centralia that resulted in three injuries.

Preliminary information indicates the driver, 25-year-old William Henegar of Centralia left the roadway and struck a tree.  There were two passengers in the car.  25-year-old Madison Klanke of Vandalia and 25-year-old James Taylor of Centralia.

Klanke was transported from the scene by Air Evac Medical Helicopter to a regional hospital with serious injuries.  Both Henegar and Taylor were checked out at the scene for minor injuries.

Henegar was an off-duty Centralia Police Officer.

State Police say he was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and improper lane usage.

Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies requested State Police handle the crash due to a Centralia officer being involved.  Reports from the sheriff’s department indicate that an off-duty Centralia Police officer Steven Daley had arrived on the scene first and was attempting to pull Klanke from the car that had smoke coming from the hood area.  The two together then pulled Klanke out to the road to get her away from the car.

The crash was first reported at 2:09 Sunday morning.
