A large vacant two-story home was destroyed by fire early Sunday morning.

Centralia City Firemen say the home at 509 North Hickory was engulfed in flames upon arrival.    The roof of the home collapsed and both stories of the home were gutted.  The building is believed to be owned by a California Real Estate Company.  Some reports indicated it was in the process of being converted into small apartments.   The cause of the fire remains undetermined.   There were utilities to the home.

Firemen reported no problems fighting the fire and there were no injuries.

The fire call came in at 1:15 on Sunday morning.  Firemen cleared the scene at 4:48 am.  All available off-duty firemen were called in and the Centralia Fire Protection District was called for mutual aid assistance on the scene.  Sandoval and Odin Firemen stood by at the main Centralia Fire Station in the event of another fire.
