A 46-year-old Fairfield man has been sentenced to six years in prison after pleading guilty in Marion County Court Thursday to a burglary charge.

Daniel Brockett of County Road 1400 East admitted to entering into a building located in the 7300 block of State Route 161 Extension with intent to commit a theft.   A second count of residential burglary at the same location was dropped as part of the plea.

Brockett will serve the time consecutively with a five-year prison term handed down in Wayne County Court on a petition to revoke his probation on a possession of less than five grams of methamphetamine conviction and a four-year prison term handed down in Hamilton County court on a petition to revoke his probation for possession of burglary tools.

A person arrested with Brockett, 39-year-old Carrie Cullins of Fairfield, still has burglary and residential burglary pending against her.

The burglary occurred in October of last year.

The property owner, who was burglarized the week before, had installed cameras and saw someone remotely try and break into the home.  The sheriff’s department couldn’t find anyone that night, but the two are believed to have crawled under the home and hid overnight.  They were separately arrested in the same area the following day.
