Police Beat for Monday, August 5th, 2024

Salem Police have arrested a 20-year-old Salem man for aggravated battery to a victim over 60 and misdemeanor battery.  Police reports indicate Charles Easley of South Lincoln was arrested early Sunday afternoon following a dispute with a neighbor.  Easley is accused of kicking a woman in the stomach causing her to fall to the ground.  She declined treatment and Easley was taken to the Marion County Jail until a decision is made on charges.

52-year-old David Faith of Norton Road in Odin was arrested by Clinton County Sheriff’s Deputies on an outstanding Marion County failure to appear warrant.  He was later transported to the Marion County Jail where he is being held in lieu of $5,000 bond.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a burglary to a shed on property in the 600 block of North Johnson in Kell.  A go cart and a 90 gallon fuel tank were reported stolen.  The owner reports there was forced entry and theft occurred sometime in the past week.

Centralia City Firemen were called to smoke coming from an HVAC unit at the Brandy McGinnis home in the 1000 block of East Third at 2:10 Sunday afternoon.  Firemen say a motor had burned out.  There was no other damage reported to the unit or the residence.
