Near capacity crowd fills Marion County Grand Stand for Demolition Derby

A near-capacity crowd found its way into the Marion County Fair grandstand and pit area for the Friday night demolition derby despite parking challenges due to the extremely muddy conditions in the fair parking area.

Winners were crowned in five derby classes.

In the Bone Stock division, Dereck Mearns of Beckemeyer was first, Kyle Simonton of Kell second, Levi Dodson of Texico third, and Tyson Minor of Odin fourth.  Bryson Moore of Odin won best of show in the division.

In the Modified Compacts, Paul Reid, Junior of Laclede was first and also won best of show.  Jacob  Crawford of Sandoval was second, Jamie Rinne of Breese third and Hayden Patten of Centralia fourth.

In the Gut-N-Go Compacts, Colton Shoemaker of Salem was first and also won best of show.  Jimmy Shoemaker of Salem was second, William Chip Holder of Salem third, and David Head of Kell was fourth.

In the Mini Vans/Mini Trucks Division, Dylan Russell of Olney was first and took best of show in the division.  Travis Campbell of Salem was second, Jason McMeen of Alma third, and Lillie Defend of Centralia fourth.

In the limited weld, Brandyn Easley of Salem was first, Blake Hendricks of Centralia second and Devin Vandeveer of Kinmundy third.

The fair midway also had a good night on Friday, with large crowds at the food booths and carnival.
