Helen Kay Childers, age 80 of Salem, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her family.

Helen was born on June 8, 1945, in Centralia, the daughter of Edward and Florence (Potter) Davis.  She married Paul “Chili” Childers on December 20, 1968, in Salem, and he survives in Salem.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by children, Kimberly Miller and husband Randy of Bardstown, KY, Anthony Childers and wife Missy of Salem, Paula LeeAnn Gordon and husband Don of  Mt. Vernon, Kellie Hines and husband Bill of Franklin, GA, and Robin Strobel of Brownstown; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren with one on the way; siblings, Phyllis Aydt of Centralia and Gary Davis and wife Cindy of Salem; aunt, Katie Meier and husband Ed of Hoffman; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Rod Strobel; grandson, Eric Childers; and siblings, Jim Davis, Edward Davis, Toby Davis, and Sharon Thomas.

Helen was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Salem.  She retired from the Murray Center, where she worked as a Mental Health Technician for her entire working life.  She enjoyed playing BINGO and slots, always enjoying a trip to the casino.  Most of all, she cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren.

Celebration of Life services for Helen Kay Childers will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem with Rusty Courson officiating.  There will be a time to visit with the family from Noon until the time of the service on Thursday.   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Clay County Hospice and will be received at the funeral home.  Online condolences and memories can be left at www.CrouseFH.com.
