A 36-year-old Fairfield woman has been charged in connection with the death of a one-year-old male who is reported to have been left in a hot vehicle for multiple hours. Adreian D.A. Hooper is also accused of causing severe injury to another two-year-old male also left in the vehicle.
Wayne County State’s Attorney charged Hooper with felony involuntary manslaughter, endangering the life of a child involving death, reckless conduct, and a misdemeanor charge of endangering the life of a child. She is being held in the Wayne County Jail at Fairfield.
Both children were reportedly found inside a hot vehicle in the 1200 block of Illinois Avenue in Fairfield on Sunday. Both children were taken to Fairfield Memorial Hospital where the 1-year-old was pronounced dead. The two-year-old was airlifted to a regional trauma center in critical condition.
On July 14, the Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation was requested by the Fairfield Police Department to assist in the death investigation. The Child Death Investigative Task Force was subsequently activated. On July 16, after a thorough investigation, the Wayne County State’s Attorney’s Office charged Hooper.
