A driver who drove into the deep floodwaters of Crooked Creek on the Norton Road northeast of Centralia was brought back to dry ground by a Centralia City Fire Department boat.

Marion County Sheriff and fire officials say water was up to the hood of the car upon arrival.  The man had climbed out of his car and was sitting on the roof when they arrived.

The Centralia Fire Protection District called Centralia City Firemen for mutual aid to bring a boat to the scene.

The Norton Road remains closed to traffic Wednesday due to the high water levels on Norton Road.
