David A. Scott, 85, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 9:48 pm July 11, 2025, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana. He was born November 22, 193,9 in Jefferson County, Illinois to the late William Earl and Bernice Aline (Dare) Scott. David married Dorothy (Eiler) Scott on November 28, 1957, in Mount Vernon, Illinois.
In addition to his beloved wife, David is survived by his sons, Ricky Scott and wife, Jackie of Carlyle, Illinois and Chuck Scott and wife, Lori of Mount Vernon, Illinois; daughter, Cathy Graham and husband, Orville of Mount Vernon, Illinois; brothers, Donnie Scott of Mount Vernon, Illinois; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren; .
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his brothers, Andy Dale and Danny Scott; sister, Barbara Manley; sisters-in-law, Carolyn and Lenda Scott; and great-granddaughter, Annica Brielle.
David enjoyed relaxing in his recliner, watching westerns or reading the newspaper. Above all, he loved his family.
A Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at 1:00 pm at East Salem Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinoi,s with Reverend Mark Ritchey officiating. Interment will follow. Memorials may be made in David’s honor to East Salem Cemetery.
