A 51-year-old Salem man has been charged in Marion County Court with felony harassment through electronic communication.

Richard Hester II of East Rainey Street is accused of leaving a voice mail on another person’s phone threatening to kill them.   Salem Police earlier said Hester was upset with a Facebook message left by the person he threatened.   Hester was arrested when police later went to his home on a domestic disturbance.

If found guilty, Hester faces an extended term due to a prior Marion County felony conviction.

State’s Attorney Tim Hudspeth requested Hester be without bond, but the request was denied.

Hester had the public defender appointed to represent him.  He is due back in court September 3rd for a preliminary hearing.
