Helen Grace Smith, age 87 of Salem, passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at her home in Salem.
Helen was born on November 3, 1937, in Harrisburg, Arkansas, the daughter of Vernon and Mary Ramsey. She married James R. “Joker” Smith on May 19, 1952, in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, and he preceded her in death on January 29, 2015, after 62 years of marriage.
She is survived by two daughters, Robin Davis and husband Dale of Salem and Lana Jones and husband Mike of Salem; grandchildren, Jennifer Watson and husband J.C., Kendra Orrell, Brittany Smith, and Justin Smith and wife Stephany; great grandchildren, Jordan and wife Courtney, Koty, Kaleb, Kade, Kenzie, Jada, Keiley, Maddy, Devin, Ethin, Liam, Sophia, Danyell, Kaylee and Natalie; great-great grandchildren, Gavin, Ambri, Jayci, Miyah, Sage and Kinsley; and two brothers, Vernon E. Ramsey Jr. and wife Patsy of Michigan and Charles Ramsey of California.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four children, Bobby Smith, Lou Ann Smith, Tommy Smith, and Starla Smith; and a grandson, Joey Whipple.
Helen was a dedicated housewife for most of her life and had worked for the Salem Times Commoner and Magazine Mailers. She cherished the time she spent with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed playing BINGO, watching the St. Louis Cardinals, and playing rummy.
A public graveside service for Helen Grace Smith will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, July 11, 2025, at East Lawn Cemetery in Salem. Crouse Funeral Home in Salem is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences can be left at www.CrouseFH.com
