Salem City Council to consider amending animal code and moving forward on sewer project

By WJBD Staff Jul 1, 2024 | 8:35 AM

The Salem City Council Monday night will be asked to update the animal and fowl ordinance.  City Manager Annette Sola says the ordinance is incorrect in several areas and City Attorney Mike Jones has submitted revisions that will go before the city council.

The city council will consider approval of the only bid to replace sanitary sewer lines along Illinois Street from Cedar to Spruce Street and Spruce Street west to the end of the line.  The bid from Haier Plumbing for $353,216 was below the engineers estimate.

Bids will be opened on three pieces of public works equipment previously listed as surplus.

The council will also do its semi-annual review of closed session minutes to determine which minutes should stay closed.

The meeting begins at six Monday night at Salem City Hall.
