Fire damages outbuilding in Junction City

Fire damaged a metal outbuilding in Junction City Saturday morning.

Sandoval Fire Chief Chad Parson says upon arrival they found smoke coming from the roof of the building owned by Ryan and Tammy Resch at 1210 Jackson Avenue.

Firemen entered the structure and knocked down the fire.  A landscape fire burning nearby had ignited firewood stacked next to the building starting the blaze.   The exterior fire then extended into the building damaging a bathroom and causing heat and smoke damage to a gathering area.   The rest of the building sustained some smoke and heat damage but it should be repairable.

There were no injuries.

Odin Fire and the Centralia Fire Protection District provided mutual aid at the scene.

Firemen were on the scene for about 2 hours to ensure the fire had not extended further into the attic area of the building.    The fire call came in at 10:08 on Saturday morning.
