The State of Illinois and Kaskaskia College have now approved a new agreement to continue all the current educational programs at the Centralia Correctional Center for another three years.  College President George Evans says money is included in the contract for salary increases to Kaskaskia College staff involved in the program.

The wait will be a while longer for two parking lots at the college.  The board Monday night rejected a bid for parking lot repairs from Rooters Asphalt and authorized re-bids for work to be done on the Agricultural Center parking lot in Spring 2025 and on the east parking lot in Fall 2024.

The board also approved the bidding for AV equipment upgrades in Jane Knight Auditorium which, according to college president Evans, would include the installation of a new state-of-the-art screen for the stage.

Multiple purchases were approved.  They include intercollegiate secondary athlete insurance for an annual premium of $36,000 and electronic health records software for $64,000 that will be grant-funded.  The board also okayed $121,000 worth of staff computers and docking stations. Vendor contracts for onsite mental health counseling services and athletic training services were renewed.

The annual budget hearing was scheduled to occur before the board meeting on September 23, 2024, with the budget to be posted publicly thirty days in advance.

The board hired three new employees.  Darrell Johnson as Assistant Professor of Residential and Commercial Electricity, Tori Lueke as Assistant Professor of Nursing, and Margo Wagner as the Rev Up EV grant coordinator.
