Doris June Powell, age 79 of Salem, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at Helia Healthcare of Salem.
Doris was born on June 6, 1946, in Salem, the daughter of Charles and Bessie (Phelps) Pollard. She married Gary A. Powell on September 28, 1967, in Salem and together they shared nearly 58 years united in marriage.
Survivors include her husband, Gary Powell of Salem; sons, Steven Powell, Wesley Powell, and Chuck Powell and wife Becky; grandchildren, Darrell Powell, Brayden Powell Smith, Paiton Powell, Kyndal Powell, Spencer Powell, Grant Swim, Andrew Swim, Allison Powell, Lauren Fox, and Landon Lutz; several great-grandchildren; her fur baby, Wrigley; several nieces and nephews; her extend family and numerous friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Richard Pollard and Leo Pollard.
Doris was a retired beautician, having worked for 25 years, owning her own shop. She and her husband owned Gary’s Drive-In where she also worked. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and spending 28 years vacationing to South Padre Island in Texas. She was multi-talented, playing the piano and dulcimer and enjoyed crocheting, and quilting.
A Celebration of Life for Doris June Powell will be held at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at Crouse Funeral Home with Steve Fox and Randy VanAusdall officiating. A time to visit with family will be held from 4:00 pm until the time of service. The family requests you wear casual attire to honor Doris’ memory.
