The names of those involved in the crash of a straight truck and SUV at Route 161 Extension and Buchanan Road in rural Iuka have been released.
State Police say the driver of the SUV who allegedly didn’t stop at the stop sign on Buchanan Road and crashed into a straight truck on the Route 161 Extension is 21-year-old Dustin Barnett of Mt. Vernon.
All three occupants of the truck were ejected from the vehicle after it rolled over. Iuka Fire identify the three as Gabe Applegate, Logan Tackett, and Coty Workman all from the Flora and Louisville area of Clay County.
The crash occurred at 8:07 Wednesday night and the Route 161 Extension was not reopened until 4:41 Thursday morning to allow for cleanup and an Illinois State Police accident reconstruction report to be completed.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Department as well as Iuka and Kell Firemen were all at the scene to assist.
