Mt. Vernon Police have arrested one person and are looking for a second in connection with a shooting Tuesday afternoon in an alley in the 2000 block of Logan Street.
The adult male victim was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
18-year-old Gabriel Ellinger of Mt. Vernon and a male juvenile were quickly identified from witnesses and surveillance video as the suspects believed involved. Ellinger was observed at 17th and Broadway and taken into custody without incident.
Ellinger was arrested for aggravated battery with a firearm and possession of a controlled substance.
Mount Vernon Police was assisted by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. This is an ongoing investigation by the MVPD. Anyone with information related to the shooting can call 618-242-2131.
