Rotary Wins City Series Title, Krutsinger Named Q92 MVP

Game 1:  Rotary 10 Crouse 9

 

Rotary is the 2024 City Series Champions after winning both games last night in the Series first ever double header to open the best of three in the 72 year history.  Rotary won the opening game 10-9 on a walk off single from Colton Calhoun scoring Myles Donoho.  The inning opened with Ethan Parrett hitting a 1-out single and advanced to 2nd on an error.  Donoho replaced him on the bases and scored the winner.   Crouse jumped out to a 4-0 lead after 2.5 innings before Rotary tied it with 4 in the 3rd.  Crouse regained the lead 5-4 with a run in the fourth only to see Rotary score 2 times in the fourth to take the lead back.  Rotary tacked on 3 more runs in the fifth inning with a big 2-run single from Nolan Krutsinger to take a 9-5 lead, but Crouse wasn’t done scoring 4 times in the top of the sixth to tie it included was a big RBI single from Braidyn Montroe.  Ben Lux was the starting pitcher for Rotary and struck out 10 in the no decision.  Eli Purdy came in and he was followed by Brody Brubaker who earned the win in relief.  Devan Jennings pitched really well for Crouse in the no decision.

Nolan Krutsinger was named the inaugural WSIQ City Series MVP.


Game 2:  Rotary 11 Crouse 5

Rotary took the momentum in Game 2 with five runs in the fifth to win 11-5.  Nolan Krutsinger capped off a great night for Rotary by tossing the complete game.  He also was 5-for-6 at the plate in 2 games scoring 5 runs to earn the WSIQ City Series MVP.  Ben Lux hit a massive grand slam in the five run fifth to help put the game away and was also in the running for MVP along with Calhoun.   Eli Bookout had a good night at the plate for Crouse with 2 triples in the double header.  Jacob Butts went 3-3 with 2 doubles in Game 2 to add to his hit and RBI in the opener.
