The laundry room area of a Centralia home was damaged in a Saturday morning fire.

The fire was at the Isaac and Christina Wright home at #5 Clear Lake.

Centralia City Firemen say the owner met them at the front door and explained the dryer was on fire.   He explained how to find the room as firemen entered with low visibility due to the smoke.  After getting to the dryer, firemen quickly extinguished the fire before it could spread out of the machine.

While the Wrights’ were not home when the fire began, others at the house called to report the smell of smoke.  They then found the smoke coming from the laundry room.  After Isaac Wright returned home a neighbor provided a fire extinguisher and was able to partially put out the portion of the fire that was beginning to spread from the dryer.  However, they could never reach the dryer itself.

Centralia Firemen say there was some smoke and minor fire damage in the laundry room area.   The windows of the home were opened to get rid of the smoke in the rest of the home.

All available Centralia City Firemen were called to the scene.  The fire alarm came in at 9:56 Saturday morning with firemen on the scene for about 40 minutes.
