A 38-year-old Wamac man was taken to the Marion County Jail on Thursday on a no bond major traffic failure to appear warrant. Jamie Kelly of North Main was arrested by Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies.
The Salem Fire Protection District was called to a car fire on Interstate 57 at mile marker 118 two miles north of Salem. The car was a total loss. The driver was able to pull to the shoulder of the road and everyone was safely out of the vehicle when the fire department arrived. The cause of the fire has not been determined. The name of the driver was not immediately available. Firemen responded to the call at 7:47 Friday morning.
