Centralia issues over $2-million in building permits in May

The City of Centralia has issued more than $2 million in building permits during May.

There were four permits for over $100,000 including a $750,000 permit issued for construction of the new Kentucky Fried Chicken drive-through walk-up facility at 1310 Walton Way.  A $508,463 permit was issued to the Kaskaskia Workshop for renovation and expansion of its laundry building that was damaged in a fire earlier this year.  The permit includes an addition which will include a break room, bathrooms, and an open area.  A permit was issued to construct a $300,000 home in the 1800 block of Moonglow Road.  A $137,683 permit was issued for placement of a mobile home in the 600 block of East Haussler.

Seven permits were issued during the month for placement of solar arrays on roofs of residential homes.  The value of the solar projects is $239,223.

Two permits were issued to Mission Centralia to construct ramps to help people stay in their homes.  They were for residences in the 200 block of North Hickory and 600 block of North Cherry.

Permits were also issued for five fencing projects among the 27 permits issued during May.

There were four demolition permits issued.  They were for a home and garage at 1325 Short, for a home at 1847 Moonglow Road where the new home will be constructed, and for a shed at 1015 West 4th.
