It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Terri L. Simon, who departed this world on Monday, May 26, 2025, at the age of 69. Terri was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a cherished resident of Collinsville, Illinois, but her journey began in her birthplace of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, on Tuesday, January 10, 1956, the daughter of Bernard Braden and Laura Eileen (Sanders) Braden.
Terri’s life will be honored with a Funeral Service on Friday, May 30, 2025, at 7:00 PM at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Friday evening from 5:00 PM until the time of service. In keeping with her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded after the service, with entombment to be scheduled at a later date at Hillcrest Lakeside Chapel in Centralia, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial donations be made to Mid-America Transplant and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home and Cremation Services located at 235 North Sycamore Street, Centralia, Illinois 62801. Those wishing to express their condolences online may visit www.sutherlandfuneralhome.com or the Funeral Home Facebook page.
Terri’s legacy is carried on by her devoted husband of 30 years, Jim Simon of Collinsville, and her four children: Laura Snider (and partner Bonnie Nichols) of St. Charles, Missouri; Tim Simon of Marine, Illinois; Ashley Parkinson of Godfrey, Illinois; and Jamie Curry (and husband William) of Deer Park, Texas. Her love and wisdom will continue to guide her five grandchildren: Kylee Simon, Judson Curry, Noah Simon, Emerson Vonder Haar, and the eagerly awaited Tilden Oakes Curry. Terri is also survived by her sister, Norma Curtis Reynolds of Mt. Vernon, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is reunited in peace with her parents, son, Robert Snider; two sisters, Bernadine Edmonds and Sondra Newcomb; and three brothers, Clayton Braden, Frank Braden, and Kenny Campbell.
Terri was a trailblazing professional, serving as the CEO and President of a Credit Union, where her leadership and integrity touched many lives. She was a devoted Christian, a member of the First Baptist Church in Maryville, and found solace and strength in reading her Bible. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her children and grandchildren, traveling with her husband, and her loyal four-legged companions, Gabby and Benjamin. Terri L. Simon’s warmth, laughter, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will forever remain in our hearts.
